Language experiences are a fantastic way to develop language and social skills. Students engage in activities—crafts, cooking, scavenger hunts, and similar hands-on tasks—to build vocabulary and practice communication in authentic contexts. These activities support:
Linguistic development: introducing and reinforcing new words, phrases, and grammar through meaningful use.
Social skills: promoting turn-taking, collaboration, listening, and conversation strategies.
Emotional growth: offering safe opportunities to express feelings, build confidence, and manage frustration.
-
Wind-down Circle is a time for students to prepare for the end of the day by reviewing activities, eliciting language, practicing writing, and retelling events. This routine promotes retention, reinforces content, and helps students put their daily experiences into words.

Harbor Village Academy is intentionally designed for students who need more than a traditional classroom can offer. We provide a small, supportive, and neurodiversity-affirming environment where each child is truly known, understood, and supported.
What sets us apart is our integrated, whole-child approach. We don’t separate academics from regulation, communication, or social development—we teach them together, throughout the day. Our program blends individualized instruction, embedded therapeutic supports, and meaningful relationship-building so students can grow academically and emotionally.
We believe in partnering closely with families, honoring each child’s unique profile, and building a “village” of support around them. Our year-round model ensures consistency, reduces regression, and allows students to make steady, meaningful progress.
-
